Our story
Ship's rope was twisted here in the 1880s
When Teresa Albani and Julian Mensah signed the lease in 2017, the loft upstairs was full of the mill's old fittings. Under the dust were a dozen brass pendant lamps. They were rewired, polished and hung over the tables, and the restaurant took its name from them: lume is Italian for lamplight.
Private dining and catering
Upstairs in the Loft, or at your place
The mill's old loft is our private dining room, under the roof trusses and the same brass lamps. For offices, weddings and parties elsewhere, the kitchen caters.

“Focaccia with the whipped ricotta and chili honey, the tonnarelli cacio e pepe and the half chicken. Owen steered us to a Barbera that was perfect. Easily our favorite place in Bellhaven now.”
Tom B.Google - Chef's counter
“The chef's counter is the best seat in the city. Nine courses, and Marco talked us through every one while rolling tortelli right in front of us. The wine pairing was generous and interesting.”
Priya S.Google “As a celiac I'm used to being an afterthought. Here the server knew the gluten-free rigatoni cooks in its own water and walked me through the menu. I had the ragù for the first time in years.”
