1The challenge
The challenge and the solution
The owners wanted to stay on one level as they get older, but the house had three small bedrooms and one shared bath. The yard had room, and the back wall of the hall was the natural connection.
2What we did
We designed a single-story suite with a roofline that matches the original, poured frost footings, turned the hall window into the doorway and tied the new roof into the old one. The bath has a walk-in shower with a bench and grab bar blocking in the walls for later.
