How long it usually takes

4 to 6 months from the first design meeting to a finished kitchen, including 8 to 12 weeks of construction. Permits and custom orders are the usual reasons a schedule moves, and we tell you as soon as we know.

Where the money goes

    Keep the layout or change it

    Keeping the sink and range where they are saves $6,000 to $11,000. Moving them is often worth it; we show you both in the design phase.

    Cabinets are a third of the budget

    Door style, construction and finish drive the price more than size. We bring door samples to the consultation.

  • 3

    Opening a wall

    Most walls between a kitchen and dining room can come out. Bearing walls need an engineered beam, which adds about $9,000 to $16,000.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

A typical kitchen takes 4 to 6 months from the first design meeting to a finished room: 4 to 6 weeks of design, 2 to 4 weeks for permits and 8 to 12 weeks of construction. Moving a bearing wall or waiting on custom cabinetry can add a few weeks, and your written schedule will show it.

What do your projects typically cost?

Kitchens start at $45,000 and most land between $65,000 and $140,000. Bathrooms start at $25,000; primary baths usually run $45,000 to $90,000. Basements start at $50,000, additions at $120,000 and whole home remodels at $150,000. Your estimate request gives you a rough planning range right away, and the design phase turns it into a fixed price.

Do we need to move out during the remodel?

For kitchens, baths and basements, almost never. We set up dust walls, protect floors and can help you plan a temporary kitchen. For whole home remodels, many families move out for the heaviest 6 to 10 weeks, and we plan the schedule around it.
